The Exodus was born from the desire of the scientific committee of the festival Fotoleggendo, to create a moment of reflection on the tragedy of landings and immigration in Europe, an emergency that involves the whole community in the face of European populations fleeing war and misery.

In recent years many Italian photographers have documented and told one of the largest exoduses of our modern history, but this shows the real intention is not much to look a mere documentation of the facts, but to address the issue through a series of images “symbol “, that tell a masterly and moving as only art photography can do,” the exodus “from the days of the first barges arriving in Italy from Albania with their load of desperation and hope, to the latest dramatic images Mediterranean. A never-ending drama, dotted with thousands of lives lost, in front of which Europe is finally trying to get a hold of collective responsibility.

The exhibition will also be a moment of participation for all citizens. Hence the idea of mounting “en plein air” on a street in Rome, Via del Commercio in Ostiense area, adjacent to the ISA which houses most of the exhibitions FotoLeggendo.
