The world of the gang told through an exhibition: Gangcity, collateral event of the 15th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale will take place from May 28 to November 27, 2016 in space Thetis Arsenale North. The project, coordinated by Fabio Armao, Professor of Politics and Globalization processes of the University of Turin, aims to disseminate and actively involved in the international academic world, the scientific community and artists from every sector to bring out innovative operational solutions and sustainable to the problem of urban cluster as fertile ground for the proliferation of gangs and crime.
The relationship between urban decay and social decline in 80 shots of six masters of photography. The result is the exhibition ‘Gangcity’, opened in Venice during the Architecture Biennale, in space Thetis Arsenale North. The exhibition will be open to the public from 28 May to 27 November. Through the lens of six great photographers we are proposed images documenting 40 years of dramatic relationship between suburbs the collapse and crime. A journey into the spaces of the world in which the gangs and criminal organizations proliferate in the fertile soil represented by urban cluster. The exhibition is spread between the tragic Palermo Letizia Battaglia, Roma borderline of graffiti artists Valerio Polici, the desolation of Scampia by Salvatore Esposito, the Naples of the historical facts of the Camorra and Albania’s visions of Francesco Cito, the gangs of ‘Latin America Donna De Cesare, the violent East Los Angeles of Walter Leonardi.
