The exhibition Gang City will be part of the “La Biennale della Democrazia under the high patronage of the Presidency of the Republic.
The event is in collaboration with the university Department of Science, Planning and Policies of the Territory of Torino and Scuola Holden.
A study on youth gangs, violent and persistent phenomenon little studied in fragile areas and difficult to reach the big cities. The geography of organized crime influence each other with the development of urban areas, elements of which contribute to facilitating or hindering the spread and impact of criminal activities. An analysis of the phenomenon of management policies, including inclusion, exclusion and harm reduction, with the participation of students of the Holden School who took part in the project.
The photo exhibition, curated by Anna Zemella, aims to tell from different angles forty years of dramatic relationship between urban decay and civil degradation. The exhibition is arranged between the tragic Palermo Letizia Battaglia, Roma borderline of graffiti Valerio Polici, the desolation of Scampia by Salvatore Esposito, the Napoli of the historical facts of the Camorra and the Albanian visions of Francesco Cito, the gangs of Latin America of Donna De Cesare, the violent East Los Angeles Walter Leonardi.
